Underwater Basket Weaving

I took a course in underwater basket weaving
On paper it looked easy, but it was so deceiving
I never thought of what it would be
To weave a basket under the sea
Now these are credits I won’t be receiving

I lost my cool when my wicker got all wet
I look back on it now with with much regret
Do you hold your breath down there while you weave?
Or do you use a snorkel to breathe?
If anything’s harder, I ain’t seen it yet

Underwater basket weaving
The ultimate skill to be achieving
If you can do that, you can do anything
This ain’t no course for no ding-a-ling

My mom would say the course wasn’t serious
I thought it sounded kind of dumb but mysterious
Though It’s not rocket science or brain surgery
It turned out harder than those classes for me
I couldn’t catch my breath and I got delirious

I flunked a course in underwater basket weaving
I thought I got it made but now that’s a grade I’m grieving
We joked about it back in the day
A piece of cake, and an easy A
Now in my intellect I have stopped believing

Underwater basket weaving
The ultimate skill to be achieving
If you can do that, you can do anything
This ain’t no course for no ding-a-ling

The joke was on me as I would soon discover
I badly misjudged this book by its cover
That impossible course pulled my average down
At least I’m lucky I didn’t drown

Underwater basket weaving
The ultimate skill to be achieving
If you can do that, you can do anything
This ain’t no course for no ding-a-ling

I took a course in underwater basket weaving
