McCann's Tavern in Lake Como, NJ
I love the songwriters' round format, especially those moments where the performer next to me just played a song that connects in a meaningful way to a song in my catalog, so I switch up what I was about to play and we get a theme going.
So, when Paul Marzano at Shore Wave Productions offered me the chance to put together my own songwriters' round with fellow artists of my choice, I was delighted to run with it. I first thought of those fellow artists who generously lent their performances to duets on my latest album Asbury Heart. Then my turns in the writers' round could be our duets and then my duet partners can show the audiences their own original creativity, in turn.
This coming Monday evening, August 17, will be that special songwriters' round, happening at McCann's Tavern in Lake Como, NJ (neighboring on Belmar). This unique variation on the weekly event starts at 6PM and is free to attend. The tavern has a great dinner menu available.
In this songwriters' round, you'll get performances from:
- ROSTAFA, who joined me on the uplifting heartland rocker “Come Across the Tracks;”
- Carol Lester, whose voice is featured on the funky, soulful title track “Asbury Heart;”
- Jon Caspi, who brought a burst of authentic punk energy to “D.I.Y.;” and
- show host Paul Marzano, who's recording a special duet version of “You-Know-Who,” which will be released as a single when completed.
My fellow performers have impressive resumes in their own right as singer/songwriters. I can't wait for you to hear their own great songs, as well as their contributions to mine. Two other duet partners created memorable moments on the album, but couldn't make it to this particular event.
